This book was so adorable! We enjoyed reading about what the different animals do at night。 We are a camping family, so it was so much fun tying this in with the noises and animals we hear/see at night when we are camping。

Natasha

Sweet story for young children about nocturnal animals。

Mary

Simple illustrations and sentences show Little Owl flying through the night forest, visiting all his friends who stay awake all night until he asks his Mama how the night ends, and falls asleep before she finishes explaining。

Why I gift this book: It’s my favorite “quiet book” - perfect right before bed or naps。 Worked like a charm on my kids。

A nice story about a young owls journey through the night。 It's not colorful (I suppose because the setting is nighttime) but the heavy use of black in the illustrations may cause disinterest in a young reader。 A nice story about a young owls journey through the night。 It's not colorful (I suppose because the setting is nighttime) but the heavy use of black in the illustrations may cause disinterest in a young reader。 。。。more

I'm really impressed by all the Dolly Parton Imagination Library books I've gotten so far (passed to me by a friend, we are not eligible where I live or at my parents' address)。 This book also has beautiful illustrations and an adventurous story。 Loved it! 2021A cute little story about a little owl who flies through the forest seeing various friends at night。 I love that it showcases some lesser loved animals like opossums and skunks in a sweet, friendly way。

Ginny

Such a cute book, good story and great illustrations。

What happens at night while little Owl is awake? This picture book, with it's simple but adorable art, will answer that question。 I'm a sucker for picture books with Owl MCs, and this one looks like a cute book to read before bed! Owl sees all these aminals。 He wanted to play even though everyone was asleep, he wanted to show everybody the moon。 He saw all the animals that were awake。 We learn when how everybody does to sleep。 Owl goes to sleep。

Rachel

A good bedtime book

I thought the text of the story was actually really adorable, but I could not stand the artwork throughout the book。 I hated the way animals looked and it was just not for me。

The narrative of a little owl at night is entertaining enough as animals are encountered doing different things。 Some text is nicely lyrical, which overall makes up for some plot inconsistencies (fog/no fog) and liberties taken with bats。Challenges arise with the overall dark colors and reading in a low-light situation。

I read this in my efforts to learn Spanish。 The book introduced me to new vocabulary related to nature。 It is a fun story about a little owl and his adventures roaming the forest at night。

Russell Kreindel

Loved the art style。

I love the Owl’s eyes, they are sooooo cute!

Adorable book for very young readers。 Unfortunately, my young readers were a bit too old for it, so it wound up being a quick read for all of us。 Still a great choice if you've got children in that 3-5 age range。 Adorable book for very young readers。 Unfortunately, my young readers were a bit too old for it, so it wound up being a quick read for all of us。 Still a great choice if you've got children in that 3-5 age range。 。。。more

I enjoyed the illustrations more than the text, but it might be fun for kiddoes curious about nature's night life。 I enjoyed the illustrations more than the text, but it might be fun for kiddoes curious about nature's night life。 。。。more

Simple and very sweet。 The text is not wildly compelling, but the illustrations are charming and it's a nice, gentle way to introduce nocturnal vs。 diurnal animals (and plants!)。 Simple and very sweet。 The text is not wildly compelling, but the illustrations are charming and it's a nice, gentle way to introduce nocturnal vs。 diurnal animals (and plants!)。 。。。more

As the story follows a long a little owl you see what all he does during the night。 While most animals are sleeping the owl flies around observes everyone in their homes。 Students will love this book because it gives them a perspective of the owls night。

Little Owl explores the beauty of the nighttime, encountering many other animals out and about (and some sleeping) in his travels。 Eventually he heads home to his tree, where his mother describes the coming of the dawn。 By the time she's done, Little Owl is fast asleep。。。Having greatly enjoyed Divya Srinivasan's illustrations for Neil Gaiman's picture-book, Cinnamon, I've been meaning to track down her own stories about Little Owl for some time now。 I'm so glad I finally got around to Little Little Owl explores the beauty of the nighttime, encountering many other animals out and about (and some sleeping) in his travels。 Eventually he heads home to his tree, where his mother describes the coming of the dawn。 By the time she's done, Little Owl is fast asleep。。。Having greatly enjoyed Divya Srinivasan's illustrations for Neil Gaiman's picture-book, Cinnamon, I've been meaning to track down her own stories about Little Owl for some time now。 I'm so glad I finally got around to Little Owl's Night, as it is a lovely bedtime book, one pairing a simple text with magical artwork。 In truth, it's the visuals that make this book, as the text is mostly unremarkable。 The artwork, on the other hand, is gorgeous - deep, vivid colors pop off of the mostly black pages, and the stylized animal figures manage to be both cute and beautiful。 I will definitely be tracking down the other titles about Little Owl, and recommend this one to picture-book readers looking for beautifully-illustrated bedtime books。 。。。more

Simple story with bright, and simple but appealing illustrations。 My daughter makes me read this to her at least three times in a row, and I love anything about owls and forests, so it works for both of us。

This book is cute, but it’s so dark color wise it’s almost hard to read。 I also wish the pages had more words。

Jane Scannella

Very cute photos, I love all the animals。

Little Owl notices all the animals and sounds in the night。Then goes to sleep as the sun rises。The illustrations are sharp graphics。
